Products & Produce

We grow a wide range of vegetables, usually at least 30 different crops, most of them in relatively small quantities. Within each crop we typically plant multiple varieties to spread out the harvest and make things more interesting. Potatoes are our best sellers, followed by tomatoes and garlic. We also grow asparagus, beans, cabbage, chard, collards, cucumbers, eggplant, kale, kohlrabi, lettuce, okra, onions, peppers, radishes, rhubarb, squash, sweet potatoes, turnips, zucchini, and a dozen or so types of herbs. We also gather produce from farmers we know in the area whenever our own supply is low or if they have things that we don’t (like tree fruit, cheese, honey, etc.). We advertise “No Anonymous Produce,” meaning that we know all the people that grow what we sell online or at the farmers market.

How is our produce grown?
We grow produce on our farm using few to no pesticides and with care to keep the crops, the soil, and us safe and healthy. Our farm is not certified organic. Produce that we get from our neighbors and friends and offer our CSA may be certified organic, not organic but no pesticides used, IPM (meaning Integrated Pest Management), or conventional. We have refrained from labeling each item as they may change categories from week to week, and we would rather provide no specifics than incorrect specifics. We only sell produce from farmers we trust and that we eat ourselves.

Crop seasons

To give you a general idea of when different produce items should be available from us, refer to our Crop Season Chart (PDF). It represents our growing conditions in Pennsylvania, and of course varies somewhat from year to year. Lately variations have been the rule rather than the exception.
