Farm News: Week of Saturday, October 22, 2011
Hi folks,
Once again the week we had a beautiful Monday and Tuesday, (time for us to get some field work done), followed by a planned very rainy Wednesday. This is most significant to me because much of our online work happens Wednesday, and whenever we have a rainy day we tend to lose our satellite internet connection. But maybe that won’t last much longer.
I called our local telephone company — as I have every couple months for the last 3 years — to see whether they were any closer to having DSL in our area. After years of NO answers, today they said YES and I signed up. So maybe by next week it won’t be quite so fretful a situation to have it rain when I need to use the internet to run my business!
Tuesday afternoon we finished our garlic planting, and then we harvested the rest of our sweet potatoes. Last year’s crop was great, so we planted six times as much this year, and took even better care of it. Looks like we didn’t even get half as much as last year! You’d think I had no clue what I was doing out here! (Hmmmm…….)
